Recruitment Timeline 2026:
Hall Councils exist in every residence hall and provide opportunities for residents to plan events, advocate for their community, and build life skills.
Make connections with other residents within your building & across campus
Gain experience in event planning and advocacy
Take on a leadership role in your community to help drive how your activity fees are spent
Tuesday, September 22, 6pm: Information Sessions in every Residence Hall
Thursday, October 1, 12pm: Intent-to-Run Form Due
Friday, October 2, 5pm: Confirmation Emails sent to all candidates
Friday, October 2, 5pm: Campaigning Begins
Tuesday, October 6, by 12pm: Electronic Ballots sent via email
Thursday, October 8, 12pm: Voting Ends
Friday, October 9, by 12pm: Offers sent to elected candidates
Monday, October 12, 8am: Elected candidates must accept positions
Tuesday, October 13, 6-8pm: RHA & Hall Council Mixer
Tuesday, October 13 & Wednesday, October 14: First Hall Council meetings
Available Hall Council Positions:

Leads weekly Hall Council meetings
Prepares the weekly Hall Council agenda in collaboration with the Vice President and the Advisor
Assists Hall Council in implementation of at least 3 events per quarter
Along with the Advisor, plan Hall Council workshops & retreats
Is the official representative of their Hall Council to the RHA Coordinating Board
As a member of the RHA Coordinating Board:
Hold two (2) office hours per week in the RHA Offices
Serve on two (2) RHA committees per quarter
Attend scheduled meetings with Hall Council Advisor, RHA President, and RHA Advisors
Submit one (1) Of-the-Month award per quarter
Additional tasks as outlined in the RHA Constitution and Bylaws
Individuals running for Hall Council Presidents must be available on Tuesdays from 6-8pm for the entire academic year for weekly RHA meetings.

Prepares the weekly Hall Council agenda in collaboration with the President and the Advisor
Take detailed minutes, including attendance, at each Hall Council meeting and ensure distribution to appropriate parties.
When needed, in collaboration with the Advisor, prepare a financial report for presentation at the Hall Council meeting.
Attend RHA meetings for the President when needed

Lead the planning & implementation of 2 events per quarter to be hosted in their residence hall

Share community service focused opportunities with residents in their hall
Plan one community service event or activity per quarter

Assist in creating advertising for Hall Council events
Manage the Hall Council social media accounts (Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
Serve as the Hall Council Historian, documenting events and activities with photos and videos

Organize recognition initiatives within the Hall Council and the Residence Hall, such as “Resident of the Week” or sharing the accomplishments of community members
Work with the Hall Council to submit at least one “Of-the-Month” award for a Hall Council program each Quarter

Share a passion for Health & Wellness including, but not limited to, physical, emotional, and mental health
Participates in the Safer Sex Peers program facilitated by UCSB Health & Wellness
Host at least one (1) Health & Wellness themed event or activity per quarter

Has a passion for serving the Queer (LGBTQ+ community) and bringing events, awareness, and education surrounding these topics to the residential community
Organizes initiatives within their hall that celebrate the Queer & Trans communities.
Host at least one (1) themed event or activity per quarter

Has a passion for serving the International Student Community and bringing events, awareness, and education surrounding these topics to the residential community
Organizes initiatives within their hall that celebrate the International Student communities.
Host at least one (1) themed event or activity per quarter

Share a passion for environmental awareness and a desire to promote sustainable practices.
Organize initiatives within the hall that promote ways to practice recycling, responsible resource use, waste reduction, etc.
Host at least one (1) environmental themed event or activity per quarter

Co-host two (2) events per quarter, one with the Hall Council, and one with another Representative-at-Large
As a member of the RHA Coordinating Board:

Individuals running for Representative-at-Large must be available on Tuesdays from 6-8pm for the entire academic year for weekly RHA meetings.

Serve as a financial voting member of Hall Council - voicing opinions & voting on all funds requests and budget allocations
Act as a liaison between Hall Council and their respective floor/house
Organize a floor/house event or activity once per year
